The Philidas Self-Locking Hex Nut is an all metal bent bream type prevailing torque self-locking nut.
The collar above the Philidas Nut contains two slots so that the thread pitch is locally changed. When the nut is tightened onto the bolt, the thread is gripped on the flanks providing the locking action.
The all metal Philidas Nut is suitable for elevated or low temperature applications. The locking performance is unaffected by the presence of oil and other liquids.
The property class of the Philidas Nut is 8, so it is suitable for use with high tensile bolts of property class 8.9 and below (bolts include: 8.8, 6.8, 5.8, 5.6, 4.8, 3.6).
The finish applied to the Philidas Nut is Electro Zinc Plate with Yellow Passivation (ZPY).
The Philidas Nut can be re-used and still maintain a locking action. To achieve the full locking action of the nut, it is recommended that at least two bolt threads should protrude through the top of the nut.
